What units confuse you? Kilometers, miles, inches, and feet? Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine? Or, if you're a scientist, perhaps Joules, Kilowatt-hours, and Ergs? The fact is, even if you know how to convert between units using a calculator and a conversion table, it's often such a hassle that you wish there were an easier way.

Enter UnitStar. This remarkable unit converter program works with over measurement units in 28 categories, including Length, Mass, Temperature, and Volume. Thousands of conversions are possible, all in microseconds and with razor-sharp accuracy. You can use it to do all your conversions for you, or you can simply use it as an invaluable reference guide. UnitStar can give you formulas to convert between two units, as well as historical information about how that unit came into being.

If you're travelling, you can produce handy conversion charts. These are in standard HTML format, so you can edit them, print them out, modify them, and even upload them. UnitStar is easily customizable, so if you ever come across a strange unit that UnitStar doesn't know, you can add it yourself. However, given the fact that UnitStar has information about over 450 units, this is very unlikely unless you've invented the unit yourself.

Whether for journalism, foreign travel, education, scientific use, or just to make life simpler, UnitStar is indispensable. In fact, UnitStar is so useful that PC Magazine chose it as a finalist in the 1998 Ziff-Davis Shareware Awards! Other finalist that year included WinZip and ICQ, so UnitStar is in great company.
